Workshop Description

In recent years, with the growing of the E/M/U-Learning technologies, the testing and assessment using computers called the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) or Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT) is a new trend. Thus, the research of new testing technology such as simulation-based, scenario-based, interactive, multimedia, etc. to support the higher skills testing; the assessment technology such as performance-based assessment, misconception diagnosis, ontology or concept map supported assessment, etc. are getting more and more important. Besides, the authoring tools and standard platform (such as IMS QTI) to support the creation and management of test items are also the important issues to contribute the development of testing and assessment. This workshop aims to bring researchers who are interested in the frontier technology of Testing and Assessment to review the current state-of-art, exchange the latest ideas and explore future directions.

On the basis of the above motivation, we will discuss the computer technology useful to promote and facilitate the research in Testing and Assessment. The topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Computer Adaptive Testing
  • Concept Map Supported Assessment
  • Simulation-based or scenario-based testing
  • Item Standard implementation or extension
  • Ontology and metadata for Testing and Assessment
  • e-testing for science education
  • Advanced testing applications
  • Standard platform for Item Bank Management
  • New test theories for e-testing
  • Researches of (Semi-)automatic item generation
  • Computer-based testing applications and experiences

  • Aug. 15, 2008:       Submission deadline for workshop papers
  • Aug. 31, 2008:     Acceptance notification of workshop papers
  • Sept. 15, 2008:      Final version deadline for workshop papers
  • Oct. 27-31, 2008:   The ICCE 2008

Papers are invited from prospective authors with interest on the related areas. Each paper should follow the IEEE format with title, authors' names, affiliation, email addresses, an up to 150-words abstract, and a two-column body with 8 single-spaced pages and with font size at 10 pts. Please refer the paper format of ICCE 2008, http://www.apsce.net/icce2008/cfp_author_guid.html

All papers must be submitted electronically in MS-Word (.doc) or a Portable Document Format (.pdf) versions and be mailed to Program Committee kbc@mail.ntcu.edu.tw
